SÄQ is a small business selling Guatemalan handmade artisanal products. The business is rooted in partnering directly with artisan families in Guatemala and showcasing their beautiful work while providing them with fair and sustainable income opportunities.
The business owner contacted me mid-2022 to develop a design system, visual and brand identity, and first responsive site.
CREATING THE MOOD
SÄQ is an ethical brand rooted in handmade, artisanal and bright products. Based on SÄQ’s products and mission, I knew the brand had to be warm, inviting, and appeal to people of all ages. I wanted to elevate the brand visually while still keeping an earthy, rustic, grounded feel through textures, warm colors, a mix of serif and sans serif fonts. It also had to represent Guatemala.
CREATING THE BRAND
Created a complete design system for SÄQ’s visual identity, which includes brand palette, typeface, web and mobile components. Ensuring it all meets WCAG Accessibility standards.
UPDATING THE LOGO
Brought the handmade, rustic, earthy elements to the new logo.
